Recently in Warsaw, a group of Polish strongmen were called in to move a pre-Holocaust Jewish tombstone from a family’s plot of land earlier this week. The headstone, which was discovered on the property, was broken in two sections and located in an area that didn’t facilitate the use of equipment to move the grave marker.

According to The Times of Israel, the headstone was discovered by the owner of the land, who uses the property to grow vegetable and flowers. While they didn’t realise the importance of the stone upon its discovery, they eventually figured out that the stone was actually a gravemarker and with the help of From the Depths, which aims to help conserve Jewish history and memorials, they organised its relocation to the Warsaw Okopowa Jewish cemetery.

The Polish Strongman Federation, which had previously offered their strength to the organisation, were called upon to help move the stone. The venture, which was headed by former world champion Tomasz Kowal, was originally supposed to be done in one shot.

However upon seeing the size of the stone, decided it would be best to have a second man brought in to help move it. He then collected the second piece alone and brought it to the graveyard where it was laid down and paid its respects.
