UK Prime Minister Compares Putin’s Russia To Nazi Germany… Again
David Cameron made the comparison in Australia in advance of the G20 summit

If you didn’t think that the G20 summit meeting couldn’t be any more tense than they already are given the West’s relationship with Russia, prepare to be wrong. UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, who’s in Brisbane, Australia, for the summit meeting, has (again) compared Vladimir Putin’s Russia to Nazi Germany.
And not for the first time either.
In September, Cameron compared Russia’s activities and appeasements to that of Nazi Germany during a summit in Brussels.
The remarks to Russian come in light of the country’s aggression towards Ukraine, which is still facing heavy aggression from Russia. Cameron who was alongside Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott, according to a report by The Independent, claimed that, “Russian action in Ukraine is unacceptable. We have to be clear about what we are dealing with. It is a large state bullying a smaller state in Europe. We have seen the consequences of that in the past and we should learn the lessons of history and make sure we don't let it happen again.”
Tension between Russia and the West have intensified over the course of the last few weeks. In what some claim to be a show of force, Putin stationed several warships off the coast of Brisbane in the wake of the G20 summit.
As reported by The Independent, Cameron continued by
explaining, “You can see that with what’s happened to the Rouble, what’s
happened to the Russian stock-market. We should use those sanctions in response
to Russian action. I would still hope the Russians would see sense and
recognise that they should allow Ukraine to develop into an independent and
free country. But if they don’t take that approach the relationship that
Britain has with Russia, the European Union has with Russia will be very
different. If Russia takes a positive approach towards Ukraine’s freedom we
could see those sanctions removed. If Russia continues to make matters worse we
could see those sanctions increase. It’s as simple as that.”
These actions from Russia follow a series of sanctions and restrictions placed on the country by several nations, in the hopes of discouraging further aggression and oppressive activity in Ukraine.
Cameron, according to the report, wrapped up his speech against the Russian leader by speaking about the power of free press and expression by the people.
“It is no accident that the most successful countries in the world are those with the absence of conflict or corruption and the presence of strong property rights and institutions,” he said. “These attributes – our rule of law, our democracy, our free press - these aren’t weaknesses, they are our greatest strength."
