Israel's Foreign Ministry have gone South Park on us (though sans the hilarity) with a new animated satirical short that displays how easily the media can overlook the reality that is Hamas, and Gaza.
In the midst of reports reviewing both the IDF, and Hamas', activity during last year's 50-day war, the Foreign Ministry released this video titled "Open your eyes to what is happening in Gaza."
The short video follows a foreign "journalist" talking about his experience in Gaza, only what he says doesn't quite match up with what's transpiring in the background.
"We are here in the center of Gaza, and as you can see, people here are trying to live quiet lives," says the reporter. "There are no terrorists here, just ordinary people." Meanwhile, of course, a terrorist is carrying a rocket past a woman with a baby, and launches a rocket, a reference to the fact that during the war, Hamas launched rockets from densely civilian-populated areas.
A real foreign journalist by the name of Sreenivasan Jain for Hindi language news channel NDTV proved this to be fact with rare footage from inside Gaza, where a bomb was launched nearby a local hotel.
The video then moves onto "Gaza's underground city" (which are really terror tunnels).
"This is a fascinating attempt by Hamas to build a subway system," says the reporter. "This is actually the first Palestinian subway, which will bring Gaza's transportation system into the 21st century."
Earlier this year, infamous graffiti artist Banksy actually made his way to Gaza through these very tunnels, though he/she also neglects to mention the fact that the tunnels are used for terrorist activity.
After the reporter lauds Gaza for its "liberal and pluralistic" society, his camerwoman gives him a pair of glasses so he can see the reality.
"Open your eyes, terror rules Gaza," she says.
