Game of Thrones Coming to the Holy Land?

Israeli news reports cite HBO reps touring Timna Park as a possible locale for the show’s fifth season

Israeli Game of Throne fans might be in for a real treat, and I’m not talking about that time violinist Michael Greilsammer made a mash-up of the show’s theme song and “Hatikvah.”

According to an Israeli news report, George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy series based off his ultra-successful “A Song Of Ice And Fire, might soon make its way to Israel, specifically, Eilat.

Game of Thrones has become one of the most successful shows in television recently, and certainly the most talked about since Breaking Bad ended. For its legions of fans, the show offers an immersive experience and character development, not to mention its stunning use of visuals and locales.

And with Israel well known for its archaeological wonderment, rich in mountains, bodies of water, sand, and mesmerizing landscapes, it seems like a logical fit as the setting for the show’s next season.

As posted on Game of Thrones news site Winter is Coming, the report indicates that a series of representatives from the hit HBO show visited Timna Valley Park, a national park near Eilat, “with an eye for this year’s filming. HBO’s scouts are apparently interested in the red stone formations and mountains of the valley and its desert setting.”

It also mentions that the Timna Park valley is known for its enormous red rock formations, which would be an ideal spot to create the Kindgom of Dorne.

While a decision has yet to be made, it’s certainly an exciting revelation, and seems that the show’s fifth season will be as entertaining and intriguing as always.
