In Warsaw, Poland, a teacher from Germany was arrested at Auschwitz after being caught with items that belonged to Holocaust victims, reports the JTA.

This isn’t the first time someone’s tried to steal something from the former concentration camp; in April, two Italian tourists were charged after stealing barbed wire from the site.

The site was also hit with a wave of vandalism recently as well.

Now, the 47-year-old German teacher has admitted to smuggling inmates’ possessions of the former concentration camp. He said he wanted to show the items to his students, who are studying the Holocaust.

The teacher has pleaded guilty and was given a suspended 10 day sentence and a fine by a local court. The man’s bag held 10 items, including a fork, a fragment of scissors and pieces of pottery, gathered from an area where warehouses once stood.

The Nazis set the warehouses, called “Canada” by the inmates, on fire at the end of the war.
