Gwyneth Paltrow Compares Online Gossip to War

The ‘Iron Man 3’ actress needs to stop sharing her opinions publicly. Period.

Ever since Gwyneth Paltrow’s weird divorce/conscious uncoupling from Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, she has been experiencing some of the worst publicity ever. Just a few weeks ago, she was under fire for saying that being a celebrity mom was harder than being a regular mom. And, as of a few days ago, she is now facing backlash for equating reading mean, online comments to war. Let’s face it Gwyneth – this is just not your week.

“You come across (online comments) about yourself and about your friends, and it’s a very dehumanizing thing,” Paltrow was quoted saying, “It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it. My hope is, as we get out of it, we’ll reach the next level of conscience.”

Sure, publicity can be very hurtful and many people probably agree with Paltrow on this matter. However, what I think many people are not fond of is her casual mention of war. One would think that comparing a “bloody, dehumanizing thing” to childish comments on the web would be insulting to those who had suffered through it. Turns out, it is.

Cindy McCain, the wife of senator John McCain (who was actually a prisoner of war), took to Twitter to voice her distaste.

“Gwyneth Paltrow is a joke. Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her!” McCain tweeted, later adding,

“Perhaps Gwyneth Paltrow should go on patrol with some soldiers. Kind of like a Red Carpet in her mind I guess!”

Get it together, Gwyneth!
