Hitler Was A Tax Dodger

Historians uncover documents exposing Hitler’s secret wealth, worth $6 billion today

Hitler Was A Tax Dodger

Documents showing that Adolf Hitler repeatedly lied and misrepresented his personal wealth to the German people have been uncovered by historians.

By piecing together information through tax documents and bank statements, historians believe they have deduced the Nazi leader’s secret, arguing that the leader of the Third Reich hid his fortune across multiple Swiss bank accounts, in what would amount to hundreds of millions in today’s money.

Naturally, this goes against everything the Führer claimed about himself. During his lifetime, Hitler presented himself as a poor, common man. He claimed that his public speeches earned him only a small amount of money, and once wrote, “What I own belongs, as so far as it is of any value at all, to the party.”

Remarkably enough, the Führer even said that he did not own a bank account. Hitler’s claims, however, contradict what historians are finding.

For one example, Mein Kampf, Hitler’s autobiographical manifesto, earned one million Reichs-marks-per-year after Hitler demanded a copy be given to every married couple by the government, according to The Daily Mail. He also earned royalty rights on every stamp bearing his face because Hitler had his image copyrighted.

The Führer even refused to pay taxes, saving himself nearly $3 million. He later passed a law that made him exempt from paying taxes.

Some experts say that on the morning of his death, Hitler even wrote a secret will in an effort to fool the German people even further into believing his lies. Unsurprisingly, the will contained more anti-Semitic rhetoric than actual property allotment.

Retired British Intelligence Officer Herman Rothman was among those to find and translate the will. Rothman believes “the private will was also for consumption by the German people. He wanted to show in his private will he had very little… he wanted to show the people he had no benefits, that his life was purely devoted entirely to the wealth of the German people,” reports The Daily Mail.

Historians believe Hitler to have worth around 1.1billion Reichsmarks, more than $6 billion today.
