This year Israeli teens will join youngsters from 26 other countries to take part in The international Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) competition.

The contest, held in Denmark, inspires youngsters around the world to play reporter and bring to light any issues concerning the environment they witness, while also offering their own solutions to those issues in a number of ways including writing, photographs or video.

This year, 27 counties will be taking part in the competition, including Israel, Canada, the United States, China, Cyprus, France, Macedonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Britain, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the UAE.

Those interested in taking part in this year’s competition must first come up with a written or video article that shine4s a spotlight on an environmental issue, as well as any solutions they can come up with before posting it on social networks.

A digital copy must be submitted by March 21 when the entries will be reviewed by a panel and a group of environmental journalists comprised of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the European Environment Agency (EEA), the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and The Times.

Fittingly, winners will be announced in Denmark on Earth Day, in June.
