Israeli Farmer Names Melon After Justin Timberlake

In anticipation of his arrival to the country, an Israel farmer has named a melon after the one and only Justin Timberlake.

The melon, which is similar in appearance to a cantaloupe, is apparently on par with Timberlake’s performance power. “It can last for three weeks in the store,” wrote the Moshav Ein Yahav team.

The melon, which is due to arrive in stores in September, will also reach some US and European stores as well.

Timberlake himself will be performing on May 28 at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. He has already issued a list of demands to meet him upon his arrival – including Israeli hummus.

Hopefully eating a melon named after himself won’t freak him out, and he’ll be able to try the Justin Timberlake melon as well.

Ein Yahav, whose 120 farms produce some 34,000 tons of winter produce, also grows peppers, hothouse tomatoes, and other melons. The group grows their melons in greenhouses and sheds to avoid the desert sun.

About half of the product is sold domestically, while the rest is exported.

Timberlake’s performance has sold some 44,000 tickets.
