James Franco Says ‘Alien’ From ‘Spring Breakers’ is Most Relatable Character

Love him or hate him, James Franco is undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s most unique young actors today. At a recent press event to promote his latest project, an AOL On Originals series entitled Making a Scene with James Franco, the prolific young star finally revealed his true self to the room full of journalists when a Twitter user asked Franco, “What role have you played that you think has the best resemblance to your actual personality?” Franco’s response?

“I did a movie called ‘Spring Breakers.’ Harmony [Korine] was just like go and act, just be yourself,” he said.

For those who may not be familiar with the film, Franco’s character is a corn rowed rapper and gangster named Alien who delivered such notable lines as, “Come on y’all, why you actin’ ‘spicious” and “My real name is Al, but truth be told, I’m not from this planet.”

Franco revealed even more about his off-the-wall persona by saying that everything he does, including his latest project, is really just an effort to appeal to as many people as possible.

“If I do this and I do other comedies, in a weird way it … it creates a space for me to do something that contrasts with this. If I, in a weird way, comedy creates good will… For whatever reason in my case, if I do the things like this then it’s sort of like one for them and then I get to do maybe a Faulkner adaptation that’s for me or something.”

Attendees of the press event were also treated to a wide range of bizarre and entertaining moments such as watching a clip from a series called Dirty Dancing Dogs, which is a mash-up of Dirty Dancing and Reservoir Dogs, and another clip called Batjuice, a combination of The Dark Knight and Beetejuice.

Franco also reportedly worried throughout the night about what he would and wouldn’t be allowed to get away with on Making a Scene, particularly in regards to a When Harry Met Sally spoof which he dubbed “too dirty for AOL.”

“Maybe the fans can petition AOL for them to not be so … PG,” he offered. Good luck with that, James Franco.

AOL On already has he first four episodes of Making a Scene up and ready for streaming, so you can head on over there to watch them…if you think you can handle it.
