James Franco’s ‘Child of God’ Gets First Trailer [VIDEO]

will soon be premiering at a film festival this year. Based on Cormac
McCarthy’s critically acclaimed 1973 novel, Child
of God marks Franco’s third run in the director’s chair this year alone,
with Interior. Leather Bar premiering
at Sundance, and As I Lay Dying
premiering at Cannes, respectively.
Child of God is scheduled to premier in competition at the Venice Film Festival this week, then hop o’er “the Pond”, for a special presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Franco not only directed, but also wrote the screenplay and stars in the film, that follows the depravity of a violent Tennessean outcast in the 1960’s. Scott Haze (who was opposite Franco in As I Lay Dying) stars as the serial killer protagonist, Lester Ballard. Tim Blake Nelson (Oh Brother, Where Art Thou), and Jim Parrack (True Blood) among others, also star in the adaptation.
