Canadian actor and comedian, Jay Baruchel, has recently scored two new projects: The Ten O’Clock People and Man Seeking Woman.

The Ten O’Clock People is a film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story of the same name. From the master of horror that brought us Fright Night and Child’s Play, Tom Holland has already written the script and plans to direct this chilling adaptation.

The story focuses on an ex-smoker who once again takes up his old habit, but this time with a horrifying side effect. Also starring in this film is Continuum’s Rachel Nichols, Law & Order: SVU’s Robert John Burke and Fright Night’s Chris Sarandon.

Holland had previously tried to develop this project a few years back with actors Justin Long and Rachel Nichols, but it just didn’t happen. Fortunately Jay Baruchel is said to be taking the reigns of this film instead, aiming to start working in June in his home town, Montreal.

However, before Baruchel films The Ten O’Clock People in Montreal, he will be visiting Toronto in order to film the pilot for Man Seeking Woman. This comedy pilot, based on Simon Rich’s The Last Girlfriend On Earth, is said to give audiences a “sweet and absurd” look into the dating world.

Producing this project is Toronto’s own Lorne Michaels company and directing it will be Portlandia’s Jonathan Krisel.
