Canadian actor, Jay Baruchel, is returning to television in a leading role after a dozen years of focusing on film.

Baruchel has achieved critical success and accolades in cinematic roles including ‘Goon’, ‘Million Dollar Baby’, ‘Tropic Thunder’, and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. He began his career on Canadian television in ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ and later Judd Apatow’s early 2000’s series ‘Undeclared’.

Now Baruchel will be starring in FXX’s ‘Man Seeking Woman’ from former ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer, Simon Rich.

According to Variety, Baruchel will play Josh Greenberg, “a naïve romantic on a desperate quest for love.” The series, based upon Rich’s collection of short stories entitled ‘The Last Girlfriend on Earth’ is set to premiere on FXX in 2015.

“Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions. “We feel this is the perfect fit for FXX and are thrilled to pick up the show.”

“I’m incredibly grateful to Jon Krisel, Jay Baruchel and Broadway Video for bringing my book to life,” said Rich. “Most of all, I’m thankful to John Landgraf and his team at FXX, who believed in us from the start and gave us great advice at every turn.”
