Welcome to Jewish Top 10s, where we compile lists that highlight the best and the brightest of everything yehudi, from delicious recipes to funniest actors, to most obnoxious Jewish wedding songs.

With Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon officially taking over the top late night shows in America, we thought it’d be cool to see just where they came from. Saturday Night Live has a long history of Jewish actors, Jewish hosts, and Jewish-themed jokes and sketches. Some have gotten them in hot water and some are laugh out loud hilarious.

Today, for Jewish Top 10s, we’re going to look at the top Jewish moments in SNL, be they brilliant sketches with Jewish actors and actresses or Jewish-themed skits. Be warned, if you are sensitive and can’t laugh at some of the most notorious Jewish stereotypes, or don’t understand satire or sarcasm, this list isn’t for you!

10.

Jewess Jeans

Airdate: October 1980

Starring: Gilda Radner

Jewess Jeans made waves when it first aired, not only for the word ‘Jewess,’ but also for its alleged stereotypes. The skit played off a then-popular Jordache jeans commercial. Just remember: “You don’t have to be Jewish… but it wouldn’t hurt.”

9.

Jewish Willy Wonka

Airdate: October 8, 2011

Starring: Ben Stiller and Andy Samberg

Ben Stiller was allegedly feeling “woozy” after fasting for Yom Kippur during his opening monologue. Thankfully, Andy Samberg came dressed as Willy Wonka for his host and provided him some authentically Jewish treats. Some of it, thankfully, was awful because “it’s also fun complaining!”

Watch here.

8.

Drake’s Rap about his Bar Mitzvah

Airdate: January 18, 2014

Starring: Drake

Drake is proudly Canadian, proudly black, and proudly Jewish and these don’t always make it into his music. He opens with an apology for coining the phrase “Yolo.” But Drake got to show off his acting skills, honed in the mean halls of Degrassi High, and a sweet rap on top of all of it:

7.

Coffee Talk with Linda Richman

Airdate: Recurring

Starring: Mike Myers

Mike Myers recurring short “Coffee Talk” first started during his stint on SNL in the nineties. The Barbra Streisand-obsessed talk show host was mostly a parody of Myers real-life aunt and usually ended up running severely off-topic in the most beautiful way. In this one in particular, Madonna and Roseanne played some wonderful ladies experiencing lady problems and talking all things Streisand:

6.

Hanukkah Harry

Airdate: Recurring

Starring: Jon Lovitz

Santa has the stomach flu? No problem! Hanukkah Harry is here! Whenever the Christian holiday characters couldn’t do their job, Jon Lovitz’s Harry was always there to give a helping hand with Jewish-themed gifts for all the good Gentile boys and girls. Probably his most memorable is “Hanukkah Harry Saves Christmas,” where Harry takes over for Santa and brings a very young Mike Myers and Victoria Jackson gifts. The sketch makes fun of Jewish gift giving, sure, but it also ends with a lesson: “If Hanukkah Harry is helping Santa, maybe that means that Christians and Jews, deep down, are pretty much the same. Maybe that’s the true meaning of Christmas!”

5.

The Hanukkah Song

Airdate: December 3, 1994

Starring: Adam Sandler

With a great list of famous Jews, Adam Sandler’s song for those “who feel like the only kid without a Christmas tree” is a celebration of being Jewish. Funny and simply warm-hearted, Sandler’s song avoids shock or stupidity in favour of just being plain funny and proud of his Jewish heritage.

4.

Celebrity Jeopardy! with Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, and (and of course) Sean Connery

Airdate: October 24, 1998

Starring: Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Ben Stiller, and Jimmy Fallon

Celebrity Jeopardy! may have been SNL’s first internet-meme sensation and ran a remarkable 14 times. Making fun of celebrity stupidity and Alek Trebek’s sexuality, the sketch ran throughout Will Ferrell’s stint on SNL. Probably the most Jewish of these was featuring Ben Stiller as Tom Cruise and Jimmy Fallon as Adam Sandler, the only SNL cast member to be parodied on the short.
