“Just Imagine Iranian Aggression with Nuclear Weapons,” Netanyahu Warns U.N. Assembly
Israeli Prime Minister Restates the Need for a “Clear Red Line”

“At this late hour, there is only one way to peacefully prevent Iran from getting atomic bombs and that’s by placing a clear red line on Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” said PM Netanyahu, who asserted that Iran’s first stage of uranium enrichment has already been completed. “Red lines don’t lead to war; red lines prevent war.”
“Israel and the U.S. have a common goal to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The prime minister’s remarks drawing a red line will help that this is attained,” a senior official said.
The Israeli prime minister went on to paint a painfully clear picture of what the world would look like if Iran does become nuclear-armed. “Given this record of Iranian aggression without nuclear weapons, just imagine Iranian aggression with nuclear weapons,” he said.
Some experts see Prime Minister Netanyahu’s U.N. address the last plea to world leaders, hoping to reach them before Israel is forced to defend itself against Iran – which has called for Israel’s destruction several times in the past – and its ongoing uranium enrichment program.
During his three-day visit to New York, the Israeli prime minister will meet with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
A meeting between PM Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama has still not be scheduled.
