Madonna Sparks Instagram Controversy

Known for her connection to the State of Israel, not to mention Kabbalah, iconic pop singer/songwriter Madonna has been under fire from all sides, after posting a picture onto her Instagram account of murdered Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khdeir.

Alongside the photo, Madonna wrote in the caption: “Cease fire on both sides! All human life is valuable! Stop the violence!”

The phrase was accompanied by the hashtags #revolutionoflove and #peaceinthemiddleeast.

Though her heart seemed to be in the right place, the singer/songwriter became the subject of much scrutiny immediately after posting the image, with many posting harsh comments, while others asked how she could mention the word “revolution” whilst Israel faces a bombardment of rocket fire from a known terrorist organization.

Others, understandably, criticized the popstar for posting a picture of Abu Khdeir, and not of the three Israeli teens – Gilad Shaar, Naftali Fraenkel and Eyal Yifrach – who were kidnapped and murdered by, Israel alleges, members of Hamas.

Eventually, the comments morphed into a political debate, as Madonna’s pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian fans cursed and argued with one another.

Madonna reacted, quickly, by posting another picture, of the three murdered teens, alongside the caption “Conflicts can never be resolved through violence! Cease fire on both sides.. All human life is precious!”

Again she used the hashtag #revolutionoflove, as well as #humandignity.

This however did not stop her fans from attacking one another, using her Instagram account as a platform for heated arguments and criticisms.

At least one thing seemed pretty obvious: the #revolutionoflove hashtag was failing to inspire.
