After the incredible success of NBC’s ‘Sound of Music Live’, the network has green lit a number of other musical series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘The Voice’ mentor and Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine, will be producing a series tentatively titled ‘The 1970’s’. It will explore the decade through the musical arts, bands, and executives that were highly influential at the time. Levine will get some of today’s most popular pop stars to cover songs from the era.
NBC is also creating a 10-hour miniseries entitled ‘Robin & Marian’ based on the legend of Robin Hood. Set in 1190, the musical will feature 60 original songs that will aid in re-telling the classic tale for a new audience.
Lastly, Boardwalk Entertainment Group- the company behind ‘The 1970’s’ and ‘Robin & Marian’ for NBC- is also developing a musical version of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for FOX.
