Minyan Now Fulfills All Your Davening Needs

Ever walk out of a baseball game and try to find a minyan? Or ever walk out of a crowded mall to find one? For some religious Jewish men this tends to be a problem.

So, Barry Schwartz, co-founder of the web development company RustyBricks – who have brought us several other Jewish-themed apps, from Jew Glass to Alef Bet iphone – found a simple solution to an annoying problem.

He created an app.

Minyan Now, as Tablet points out, will assist observant Jewish men in locating enough others in order to make a minyan – the quorum of ten Jewish male adults required for prayer.

It’s a free smartphone app that allows users to input their location and desired time of prayer. The app then notifies other users in the immediate area, and once 9 other users have agreed to join, the app will confirm the minyan location and time.

While there are several apps that connect Jews to synagogues in order to pray, Minyan Now can facilitate an unofficial minyan at any location.

Schwartz believes the app will go a long way. especially for travelling Jews. “Now,” he said, “I can go to the airport and feel confident enough that I will get a minyan by just using this app and saying, let’s go to Gate A4 and have a minyan.”

You can download Minyan Now for iPhone at the iTunes app store or for Android at Google Play.
