Neo-Nazi Threatens Jews at Synagogue BBQ

A masked man invades Chicago event with anti-Semitic threats

A kosher food festival being held in a Chicago-area synagogue was intruded by a masked assailant and Nazi sympathizer waving a swastika poster this past Sunday.

The incident at the Anshei Emet synagogue occurred when a man hiding his face entered the area and began to curse and yell hateful comments, stating that “all Jews must be exterminated.”

While the several off-duty police officers present were unable to apprehend the man, an investigation is to be opened with the culprit possibly facing hate crime charges if caught.

Chicago has unfortunately long been plagued with neo-Nazi activity, the most famous incident being a Jew-targeted march by the National Socialist Part of America in 1977. While the city tried to deny the group’s license to march, the group won their appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court with help from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Of late, anti-Semitic attacks have also affected Belgium and France, while Greece’s Golden Dawn ultra-nationalist party shows no signs of slowing down.
