Canada, Israel Open Hydrotherapeutic Pool in Mevoot HaHermon
On April 13th 2010, an innovative hydrotherapeutic pool was opened in Mevoot HaHermon, Israel, in addition to a long line of projects built with the support of Canadian Jewish organizations over the past 40 years.
The hydrotherapeutic pool was created in order to provide a better quality of life for physically and mentally handicapped children, as well as over 1000 wounded IDF soldiers currently living in the northern part of Israel.
This is the only facility of its kind from Haifa to Metulla that is operated by volunteers as well as professionals.
The opening of the hydrotherapy pool was supported by a number of different Canadian Jewish agencies including Federation CJA 2010 Combined Jewish Appeal Chairs’ Mission, led by President of the Federation Jack Hasen and Campaign co-chairs Pascale Hasen, Selena Paperman and Shawna Goodman Sone.
The project was put into effect as a result of an impressive coalition of many partners incuding: Federation CJA Montreal, Atlantic Jewish Council in Eastern Canada, IDB Foundation, Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, National Insurance Institute, the IDF Wounded Soldiers Association and the Mevoot Hermon Regional Council.
The hydrotherapy pool is just one example of how Canadian Jewish agencies and organizations have actively participated in the building of an extraordinarily beneficial project for Israelis of all ages and conditions.
