With elections closing in and Reverend Jesse Jackson campaigning against him, will Emanuel still have a fighting chance?

Tomorrow Chicago voters might be ready to move former White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, into City Hall as the cities first Jewish mayor.

Emanuel has been the clear front-runner since he announced his candidacy last fall. The majority of polls showed him leading the Democrats. Emanuel must win more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff on April 5th. Therefore, winning the Democratic primary would give the potential mayor a lock on the job that Richard Daley held for over 20 years.

Emanuel's former boss, President Obama, has not endorsed anyone publicly this mayoral race.

Other mayoral candidates include former U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun, former Chicago public schools president Gery Chico, City Clerk Miguel del Valle, and a few others that don't deserve mention as their chances of being noticed are negligible.

Emanuel has had his fair share of challenges during his five month campaign. He had to face the Illinois Supreme Court in a battle to prove that he was truly a Chicagoan. He had to fight off Reverend Jesse Jackson and other African American leaders who attempted to get the city's massive African American citizens behind Braun.

Although he's been faced with many obstacles along the way, it is believed he will still win the majority vote.
