A Hamas official denied a report claiming that the organization would halt attacks against Israel on Thursday, according to the Jerusalem Post.

A report by Haaretz claimed that Damascus-based leader, Khaled Mashaal, had issued an instruction to Hamas’ armed wing, Izzadin Kassam, to stop its attacks on Israeli targets.

The Haaretz report stated that Mashaal had reached an “understanding” with Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, following their recent negotiations in Cairo.

Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, called the report “trivial” and does not deserve a response, the Jerusalem Post reported.

On Wednesday night, four Qassam rockets were fired into Israel from Gaza. Two landed in open areas in the Eshkol region at approximately 7:30 p.m. while two more landed in the Sha’ar Hanegev region around 11:30 p.m. No damage or injuries were reported.

The rocket launches followed a targeted killing by the Israeli Air Force, in which three terrorists were killed and another nine were injured in communities surrounding the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night.

Following the rocket attacks on Wednesday, the IAF bombed a terror activity hub in central Gaza overnight and an underground tunnel used by terrorists in the north, Ynet reported. According to the IDF, direct hits were identified.

Another Qassam was fired from northern Gaza around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, exploding in an open area in the Negev’s Eshkol Regional Council.
