Steve Spielberg’s USC Shoah Foundation has announced their plan to honor President Obama at its upcoming 20th Anniversary Ambassadors for Humanity Gala on May 7th in Los Angeles.

Spielberg founded the USC Shoah Foundation in 1994, shortly after releasing the Oscar-winning ‘Schindler’s List’. The organization preserves testimony of Holocaust survivors in film and audio clips.

Obama is expected to deliver remarks and receive an honor for his “commitment to democracy and human rights,” according to a statement from Spielberg.

“As a constitutional scholar and as president, his interest in expanding justice and opportunity for all is remarkably evident,” Spielberg continues.

“The president’s recent appointment of the first special envoy for Holocaust Survivor Services in United States history demonstrates his staunch commitment to honoring the past while building a better future.”

Spielberg will present Obama with the Ambassador for Humanity Award.
