Restaurants Can Now Post Their Menus On Facebook
Only available in the U.S. and Canada so far

Facebook seems to be going full throttle with their new features. This week alone, they announced a potential new app, Slingshot, going after the Snapchat market, and also a song identification feature, going after the Shazam market.
Now, it seems their next victim is Yelp, with Facebook introducing a new feature that allows restaurants to post their menus.
Facebook will be using ConstantContact’s SinglePlatform to better allow for business to display products, photos and menus. Though the service, at present, is only accessible in the U.S. and Canada, businesses will be allowed to upload PDFs of their menus directly onto the social media site.
Essentially, the end goal here for Facebook seems to be allowing users do go about their day-to-day online lives without actually ever leaving their Facebook profile. Needless to say, this will surely generate more ad revenue for Facebook.
Though one assumes restaurants could simply upload a photo of their menu, Facebook seems to be stressing that it is interested in allowing its users to make reservations – and perhaps, in the future, order – without navigating away from the website.
Despite the speculation that the new features may hurt the ever popular Yelp – known for their reviews of restaurants and inclusion of menus, the company’s stock was interestingly up 5% on Thursday afternoon.
