The first extended trailer for Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman’s upcoming action-thriller Lucy has been released.

Lucy will feature Johansson as the lead actress, who will play the role of Lucy, a young woman who is kidnapped and suffers through being surgically implanted with an unknown bag of drugs for her drug trafficking captors. Unfortunately, these things never go as planned, and mid-transport the bag breaks and begins to leak the mystery drug into her system.

Enter Morgan Freeman who begins the trailer with the premise of, “It is said that we humans only use ten percent of our brains… Now, let’s discuss a special case, Lucy.”

Cut to Johansson breaking free from her captives, writing in “Chinese” without previous knowledge of Mandarin or Cantonese, and completely kicking ass like something out of a Marvel comic book. Lucy effortlessly becomes more and more badass as the trailer progresses, moving from hand to hand combat to wielding telekinetic powers that allow her to completely stop time and movement around her.

Directing this fast paced and intriguing action-thriller will be Luc Besson, known for The Fifth Element and The Professional.

Analeigh Tipton, Min-sik Choy, and Amr Waked co-star with Johansson and Freeman.

Audiences can expect to see Lucy in theatres this summer, July 25, 2014.
