Seth Rogen is teaming up with Adam McKay, and Ben Schwartz for what is sure to be a hilarious new comedy. Gary Sanchez Productions, which McKay runs with Will Ferrell, Point Grey Pictures, run by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Good Universe have all collaborated and bought a pitch from Schwartz for Rogen to star in and McKay to direct. Schwartz will also appear in the movie.
“Evan and Seth have been doing amazing things and we’re so excited to work with them,” McKay joked in a statement. “Ben, not so much. Most of my problems with him are personal ones, but I have to give it up… he did come up with a great idea.”
Rogen and Goldberg added their tongue-in-cheek statement on the project, as well: “Every 2,000 years, the planets of our galaxy align in a perfect line that funnels the cosmic energies of the universe to flow into one perfect comedic collaboration. The time is now. This is that project. Nothing will ever be the same. McKay and Schwartz are real smart, well-endowed guys, and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with them.”
Most people will recognize Schwartz from TV as both the obnoxious yet oddly likeable character Jean Ralphio on Parks and Recreation, and for his role on House of Cards, but he is making a name for himself on the big screen, as well. His next project will see him playing a rabbi in Warner Bros. new film This is Where I Leave You, and he recently wrapped up production on Robert Zemeck’s next film, The Walk, for TriStar. He also sold two pitches to Universal that Imagine Entertainment is producing, and his remake of Soapdish, El Fuego Caliente, was on the 2011 Black List for best unproduced screenplays.
