Academy-Award winning Holocaust movie, ‘Schindler’s List’ is marking its 20th anniversary this year. In commemoration, the film’s director, Steven Spielberg, has personally supervised its meticulous restoration and intends to screen it for charity.

After completing the film in 1993, Spielberg founded the USC Shoah Foundation’s Institute for Visual History and Education as a result of his experiences making ‘Schindler’s List’. The organization is dedicated to educating future generations about the Holocaust and the horrors of war crimes by preserving interviews with witnesses and survivors of the Holocaust and other mass genocides.

Spielberg’s charity screenings of the remastered ‘Schindler’s List’ will debut with a special benefit screening at the Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 12th, 2013, the day before Yom Kippur.

“This event provides a unique opportunity to bring together the community to both remember and pay tribute to the survivors and ensure that their stories are heard, preserved and used for education. And its significance is greater than ever because of its coincidence with the Yom Kippur holiday on September 13,” shared Steven Cozen, USC Shoah Foundation Board of Councilors Member.

Spielberg remains a very busy man. According to imdb, he currently has 30 projects in production and development including ‘American Sniper’, ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2’, ‘The Grapes of Wrath’, and ‘Indiana Jones 5’.
