Synagogue Firebombed in Ukraine [VIDEO]

And tensions concerning the Jewish community in Ukraine continues to rise.

On the heels of documents being passed around outside a local synagogue in Donetsk asking Jewish people to ‘register or be deported’ – many news agencies have suggested that the documents are fake and were not ordered by Russian Separatists leader Dennis Pushilin – now another anti-Semitic incident is being reported in the politically unstable region of Ukraine.

Sources say that the main synagogue in Nikolayev (located in Southeastern Ukraine, 70 miles from Odessa) was firebombed early Saturday morning.

A website and known affiliate of Chabad Lubavitch, Shturem.org, originally reported the incident, adding that two molotov cocktails were thrown at the door and window of the synagogue, which was fortunately empty at the time. The website cites Yisroel Gotlieb, son of the Chief Rabbi of Nikolayev, Sholom Gotlieb, as confirming the incident.

Passer-by’s apparently put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.

The attack itself was captured by the synagogue’s security system, and has since been uploaded to YouTube (watch below).

In February, the Giymat Rosa Synagogue in Zaporizhia, 250 miles southeast of Kiev, was also firebombed.

While many continue to argue the authenticity of the documents asking Jewish people in the region to register, there is nothing to debate regarding this flagrant act of anti-Semitism.
