16-year old Tavi Gevinson’s online magazine for teenage girls, Rookie, hosts a popular feature called ‘Ask a Grown Man’. In the past, celebrities including Paul Rudd, Judd Apatow, and Jon Hamm, have participated, answering the difficult, and oft times embarrassing questions, teen girls want to know.

Now Rookie wants President Obama as their next grown man, starting a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #obama4grownman.

Typically, Rookie only reaches a young female demographic, but the hashtag, originally posted on Sunday, has spread worldwide among young men, older women and fathers.

Anaheed Alani, Rookie’s editorial director, is surprised by the response.

“I just decided to start a Twitter campaign to ask Obama to do Ask a Grown man with no expectations beyond that it would be fun for me and our staff and that it would be funny and that it might get us five new Twitter followers,” she said.

The girls at Rookie aren’t sure if Obama has received the message personally, but the White House Liaison to Young Americans, Ronnie Cho, has shown his support to Gevinson and Rookie Mag.

“Moreover, I’m big fan @tavitulle fan.@all_ages@rookiemag,” he tweeted.

@tavitulle is Tavi Gevinson, Rookie Mag’s young editor-in-chief. Rookie Mag launched after the success of Gevinson’s popular fashion blog, The Style Rookie. The magazine targets teenage girls that are not interested in traditional supermarket mags for girls featuring unrealistic portrayals of women and Top 40 music hits, similar to the now-defunct magazine Sassy.

If you’d like to see President Obama answer some ‘Grown Man’ questions, spread #obama4grownman on Twitter.
