The Internet Explodes With Anger Over Steven Spielberg Dinosaur Kill
A satire posted on Facebook elicited an unexpected reaction

Earlier this week, 17-year old Belgian World Cup fan Axelle Despiegalaere landed a L’Oreal modeling contract after photos of the teen cheering went viral. However, she lost the gig within days after fans expressed outrage over a photo posted on Facebook featuring Despiegalaere holding a rifle proudly in front of a dead gazelle was discovered.
Facebook meme-maker, Jay Branscomb, decided to poke fun at the debacle. He posted an image of Steven Spielberg sitting in front of a mechanical triceratops from the set of 1993’s ‘Jurassic Park’.
“Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man,” Branscomb jokingly captioned.
Sadly, many people did not get the joke. They believed Spielberg found a living dinosaur and killed it. The photo was shared over 32,000 times and the director received a mutiny of hateful responses calling the image “disgusting”, with others vowing never to watch a Spielberg film again.
Luckily, many others appreciated the humor, taking to Twitter to make jokes of their own.
“Has L’oreal canceled its contract w/ Steven Spielberg for killing that dinosaur?” wrote Heather Schmelzlen.
“How would Steven Spielberg feel if a dinosaur hunted him for sport? Maybe he should watch Jurassic Park,” added Raymond Sultan.
