The Love Jewce: JDate’s New #GetChosen Campaign

The Jewish dating site’s new campaign has actually worked wonders, with tons of eligible bachelors to choose from

When JDate launched their largest rebranding campaign in 17 years they also launched a Jewish dating revolution. While most people were boating and grilling over Memorial Day weekend, Jews were hotlisting, flirting, and making sure Bubbe’s matzo ball recipe survives.

Just log on to JDate today; it’s swarming with James Franco and Adam Levine look-a-likes.

This is not a lie. I literally was shocked by the amount of 20-something men on JDate. In a matter of five days I managed to find three men of interest, who are all under the age of thirty, tall, dark, handsome, and, of course, Jewish. Yes, the sending of the flirts is so awkward, but I’m sure they’re just as nervous. My eyes lit up when I received flirts along the lines of “I’m making the first move I dare you to reply.”

Certain things are only acceptable on JDate and I haven’t turned down a dare since my 11th birthday party.

I personally went on JDate three years ago to find absolutely nothing but old men desperate to “wife” somebody up on date two. It was dry like the Negev. Now, it’s filled like Shuk HaCarmel in Tel Aviv. After weeks of the #GetChosen campaign – asking us to submit our cleverest pick up lines via Twitter or Instagram for the chance to have them featured on a massive billboard – I’ve done nothing but encourage JDate, but of course in small doses; I have to find my beshert first.

Because of #GetChosen and several other clever phrases such as “Meet Mr. Right to Left” that people like you submitted via social media, JDate profiles are now filled with hot single men and women in their twenties, so log on ladies because I’m predicting it’s only going to get better from here. I can hear the glass breaking now…

Whether the campaign was implemented to compete with such apps as JSwipe and Jcrush or just to make JDate all around attractive, it’s working pretty damn well. So well in fact that over Memorial Day weekend JDate ran a special and so many of us logged on, they extended it one more day with prices as low as $19.99 a month. Whether it was a business decision or not, their message is loud and clear: let’s make some Jewish babies.

How did this brilliant beyond brilliant idea of #GetChosen come about? JDate and your mothers can thank ad agency the Terri & Sandy Solution for coming up with the catchy #GetChosen slogan that made JDate sexy to thousands of Jewish millennials out there. They can also thank L.A. comedian Ricky Sans, who won the #GetChosen contest with his winning slogan: “Matzah Ball Recipes Don’t Survive on their Own.”

The other two victorious slogans were “Find Mr. Right to Left” by Jonathan Morvay, and “Because Dating Shouldn’t be as Hard as Parting the Red Sea,” by Anthony Ramanauskas.

But what I think what we all want to know is if the lucky winner, Ricky Sans, is single. If so, my hand is raised to #GetChosen. You can try my matzo balls if I can try yours. . .
