10.

Paint It Black

Kicking our list off in tenth place is the iconic song Paint It Black. A song which deals with a man’s anger, emotional instability and his desire to rebel against conventional society. The song also features a blend of rock and roll, and hints of punk that were soon to come into the music industry.

9.

Wild Horses

Perhaps one of the most beautiful rock ballads the Rolling Stones ever came out with, not to mention one of the most beautiful rock ballads of all time, Wild Horses is a song that depicts love better than real life. A song which can spark sentimentality in even the stoniest music aficionado, it easily deserves a spot on our list.

8.

Jumping Jack Flash

One of their catchier tunes, Jumping Jack Flash comes in at number eight on our list. While the Stones are known for their deep and thoughtful tunes, this song offers listeners a more lighthearted experience. Although it’s an unusual tune to hear come from this band, it’s certainly one of their better songs to hear live.

7.

Mother’s Little Helper

Although it sounds odd for a band like the Stones to write a song about drugs (yeah right) Mother’s Little Helper is an indication of why the Rolling Stones rose to such critical acclaim. Much like their other songs, this one took a topic that everyone was thinking about but was too afraid to speak of, and put it in the forefront of pop culture. Facing substance abuse head on, the Stones helped to break down walls surrounding a topic that was integral to life in the 70’s.

6.

Beast Of Burden

Beast Of Burden, much like Jumping Jack Flash, is an unusual tune to hear coming from the Stones. One of their more mellow pieces, it offers listeners a new side to the iconic rock band. It’s also ranked in the top 500 songs of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
