Time's 100 List Includes Israeli Academic

Beyonce wasn’t the only person who’s been making headlines since Time Magazine released its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world.

An Israeli-born academic, economist Anat Admati, also made the list, recognized for her progressive views of the current banking and financial system.

Admati, a Professor of Finance and Economics at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, has offered new ways of how to understand structured banking systems, while challenging the accepted system.

Admati co-authored a book, The Banker’s New Clothes, which has become a staple in the financial industry, inspiring managers and members of the industry to rethink their current views of banking and global economics, writes Rana Foroohar during her excerpt on Admati.

According to a 2013 Stanford Business article, Admati has claimed that growing up in Israel is what helped shape her current views on finance.

“I grew up in Israel, and it was like this feeling of war, this feeling of not knowing what was going to happen,” she said.

The 2014 list also includes controversial Russisan President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Amy Adams, Edward Snowden, and Barack Obama also made the list.
