Times Square Billboard Calls for the Return of Abducted Israeli Teens

A new billboard in New York’s Time Square is demanding the return of the three kidnapped Israeli teens who went missing almost two weeks ago.

Funded by the Young Israel of the West Side, an Orthodox synagogue in Manhattan, the advertisement hopes to bring attention to the abductions of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach.

The ad appeared for the first time on Tuesday via a 40-foot-by-40-foot digital billboard.

The billboard reads: “On June 12th, 2014, three teenage boys were kidnapped in Israel, one of them an American citizen. These boys are not soldiers. They are not fighters. They are not violent. These boys are our sons. Our brothers. Our grandchildren. Our nephews. Our friends. Please help create global awareness.”

The advertisement shows twice every hour in Time Square for 15 seconds; the cost of which is typically $15,000, according to the New York Post. On the billboard, photos of the abducted teens — Naftali Fraenkel, Gil-ad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach — appear with the hashtag #bringbackourboys.

The advertisement is similar to the “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign which was started earlier this year when over 200 school girls were kidnapped by the extremist group Boko Haram in Nigeria.

On Thursday, President Shimon Peres said that Israel “will do everything in our power to bring home our three kidnapped boys” reports the Jerusalem Post.

Israeli officials have also indicated possible evidence of the three teens being abducted by the Hamas terrorist group in Gush Etzion.
