Tom Cruise: Nazi Hunter

The iconic actor and Scientologist is alleging that Bauer Publishing (parent company of Style and In Touch) has pro-Nazi ties

No, Tom Cruise is not doing a movie where he’s hunting down Nazis (though, now that I think about it, I’m sure Timur Bekmambetov, who directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, would be interested in adapting it).

Last year, Cruise filed a libel lawsuit against Bauer Publishing, the parent company of Style and In Touch. Cruise was none-too-pleased with their joking about Scientology and it’s relation to his separation from Katie Holmes, particularly their claims that he ‘abandoned’ his daughter in lieu of Scientology.

This week, segments of a sealed deposition between between Cruise and his counsel from Bauer were obtained by Radar Online. In the documents, Cruise defends himself from allegations that he tried to have his legal counsel create negative press claiming Bauer is an anti-Semitic company with pro-Nazi publications.

Cruise denies that Matt Galsor, a member of his legal team, reached out to the Associated Press to ask that they run a story on anti-Semitic affiliations of Bauer, and stated that, when asked if he would condone a company running a smear campaign, he would “have to think about it.”

That said, Cruise agreed with Bauer that in 158 days – from June 18th to Thanksgiving of 2012 – he only saw Suri for ten days, but that this did not constitute “abandonment.” When asked if he had the Church of Scientology label Katie Holmes as a “suppressive person” – which Cruise describes as ‘antisocial personality, someone who is dishonest, evaluates and invalidates to the extreme – he admitted that anyone who leaves the church is automatically identified as such.

Cruise accuses defending counsel Beth Macnamara of not respecting his faith which he claims is nothing like Judaism or Catholicism…even though he wasn’t asked that.

Cruise and Bauer Publishing’s next hearing is on November 26th.
