Ever wish you could work as a beer taste tester? That’s a rhetorical question – of course you have. But for residents and students living in Israel, your dream can actually turn into reality. Currently Goldstar, makers of beer since the 1950’s and Israel’s largest brewer, is hiring a chief taster for their company and they’re looking to the public for help.
The company, which is a part of the Tempo Beer Industries ltd., the people responsible for Maccabee Beer and Nesher Malt, are seeking a candidate with at least three years of experience when it comes to drinking beer, be 18-years-old or older, and cannot be enlisted in the army. According to a report by The Times of Israel, the tester can be of any sex, and will be compensated NIS 12,000 as well as travel expenses as drinking and driving is illegal.
There’s no telecommuting, for obvious reasons, and whoever signs on as their new tester must work from Tempo’s headquarters in Netanya. However they only have to come to work once a week to taste samples of beer from the batches brewed. Naturally, palate cleansers will be included.
If you’re thinking that this sounds like the laid back, relaxing job you’ve always dreamed of then you may need a slight reality check. The taster will be making calls that will impact thousands of beer drinkers from around Israel, which is also why their experience will be made public on Facebook to keep their patrons in the loop during the selection process.
All interested candidates should be sure to buff up their CVs and send them to www.goldstar.co.il
