Lena Dunham Gets Cat-Shaped "Weapon" Confiscated at Airport
The 'Girls' actress was interrogated by TSA for a keychain in the shape of a kitten

Girls star Lena Dunham has recently gotten into a little TSA trouble at the airport. It all started at LAX, when the TSA agents found a “weapon” in her purse at the security check point.
“The only thing that got me out of it sane was thinking that this might be an OK talk-show story,” she later told Seth Meyers on Late Night.
Upon finding the weapon, she was detained, unable to make any calls and forced to wait as they called for law enforcement and did a criminal background check.
The star admitted to “hoping someone might be passing by and go, like, ‘love the show’, just so they would have the sense that I wasn’t a convicted criminal” and feeling guilty about it. Mostly, however, she revealed she was just scared.
“I was so scared - I was like, they’re gonna Amanda Knox me. I’m gonna go away for a long time. The criminal justice system is broken in this country. They put away the good people and let the bad people go free,” She told Seth Meyers.
The offending item turned out to be a gift from one of her friends - a “self-defense keychain”.
“It’s shaped like a cat - it goes over your knuckles, but I guess the two ears could gut someone,” the Girls star explained, “I understood sort of intellectually it could be used as a weapon, but really all I thought was like, What a cute little cat!”
Apparently she repeatedly told the TSA agents that, “If it was really a weapon, I wouldn’t use it as a keychain.” Sadly, her cute kitty keychain was confiscated and she was issued a warning.
On a much happier note, Dunham will be hosting next week’s episode of Saturday Night Live. The privilege is a dream come true for the actress who was so obsessed with Saturday Night Live, as a fourteen year old, that she tried to get a fake student ID card… just so she could go to the live show.
"I'm the only kid in New York history who tried to get a fake ID … not because I wanted to drink, but because I wanted to go to 'SNL’,” Duhman said, adding that she also told them, “I’m not going to do anything illegal, so just give it to me.”
